Cool temperatures and predictions of rain likely contributed to the small size of the field for this last ABC 40km time trial of 2010. Still, the wind was light, and this allowed for some good times. Three men broke the hour mark - Chris Black, arriving just as the numbers were being given out, rode 59:41 in his first attempt on this course, while Colin Campbell and Dave Gerrard rode 59:56 and 59:58, respectively. For the women, Nicole LaViolette was fastest in 1:10:30, followed by Stephanie Rees in 1:12:15 and Celia McInnis in 1:12:52. Of the three riders, Robert DeVidi, Stephanie Rees and Celia McInnis, who posted improvements in either their previous 40km database best on this course or their upon their 2010 previous Calabogie 40km best, Celia McInnis posted a season-series best that was one minute and six seconds slower than her course best of 1:11:06 from two years ago while Robert DeVidi and Stephanie Rees both improved upon their previous course best. In fact Robert even improved upon his previous 40km database best which was set on the easier Fournier course in the OTT series last year. Our fall road clean-up to continue the ABC Adopt-a-Road for Tatlock Road will take place on Wed. Sept. 22. We need helpers to clean debris from Wolf Grove RD, south 2 km to Miller Rd; meet at Union Hall at 6:00 pm.
